Lauterach - 10.07.2007
Operations began in June at GW's new cargo handling facility in Dunaharaszti. This means that 20,000 m² are now available for handling freight in Hungary. Warehouse capacity has grown by 35% after a construction period of just eight months. GW invested around 4.8 million euros in the expansion. At the same time, another project has also begun – the construction of a 2,500 m² large logistics warehouse.
Modern infrastructure, efficient use of space and fast freight handling allow for 50% more capacity with the new 50-bay facility. As outlined in GW quality standards, the handling centre uses bar coding and a paperless goods manipulation system. Also in use is the electronic shipment weight and measurement control device.
A video surveillance system offers added security and is used in the storage of especially valuable goods. The investments also helped to renew the roads for traffic within the terminal. With the new facility, the handling and sorting process is shortened and the cycle time for customers is optimised to an even greater extent. Warehouse capacity grows
Warehouse capacity must expand to be able to serve the growing service area to customers and to handle the increasing number of consignments. With the opening of the new cargo handling facility, another project has also begun – the construction of a 2,500 m² large logistics warehouse. The warehouse designed for high-bay and stacked storage is scheduled to be completed in June of 2008. The high-tech logistician Tectraxx – a business unit of GW - will then be able to offer their logistics services and solutions in Hungary as well.
