Top management change at the Vienna Air & Sea Terminal

Harald Kostial is the new manager of this Gebrüder Weiss branch

Since 1 February, Harald Kostial from the Vorarlberg region is guiding the destiny of the Air & Sea Terminal in Maria Lanzendorf near Vienna. He will continue to develop the Gebrüder Weiss market position in the airfreight and seafreight sectors and use Vienna more as an East-West hub.

Harald Kostial knows the transport sector inside out, having started his training as far back as almost 25 years ago at Gebrüder Weiss in Lauterach. Here, the 39-year old was employed in land transport until he progressed to the air/seafreight sector. He was employed by the "orange forwarder" in Asia, prior to taking over responsibility for the seafreight department for Vorarlberg, Switzerland and Southern Germany. Since 2003, Kostial has been responsible for the Seafreight Project Management of the whole organisation.
On 1 February 2007, he was assigned the task of managing the Air & Sea Branch in Maria Lanzendorf. As a Vorarlberg man, he sees his new task as a personal challenge, since "Vienna is one of the most important Air & Sea strategic locations of the Gebrüder Weiss organisation." Kostial will continue to be responsible for the Seafreight sector across the organisation.

Vienna as a strong hub
It is the stated objective of the Branch Manager to even more firmly embed the position of Gebrüder Weiss as the Air & Sea specialist in the region: "It is important to me to continue extending our position in the market – to the same extent in both airfreight and seafreight." Apart from that, Vienna is to be pushed as a goods hub both for the East of Austria, as well as for Central and Eastern European countries.
The branch managed by Harald Kostial only moved last year with its 36 employees to the newly opened Gebrüder Weiss logistics terminal in Maria Lanzendorf. At the previous location at Schwechat airport, GW is now only represented by a team of five employees.

The Gebrüder Weiss organisation
The Gebrüder Weiss organisation, headquartered in Lauterach (Vorarlberg, Austria), employs around 3,900 staff in total at 134 locations around the world. The logistics company recorded sales of 789 million Euro in fiscal year 2005.
